Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Preparing the Steak:

  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Add vegetable oil to the heated skillet.
  • Season the thinly sliced ribeye steak with salt and black pepper.
  • Cook the steak slices on the skillet, stirring occasionally, until they're browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.

Sautéing the Veggies:

  • In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté the sliced onions and green bell peppers until they're tender and caramelized.
  • Once cooked, mix the sautéed veggies with the cooked steak in the skillet.

Building the Cheesesteaks:

  • Divide the steak and veggie mixture into portions, enough for each hoagie roll.
  • Lay two slices of provolone cheese over the mixture in the skillet and allow it to melt and blend with the steak and veggies.

Assembling the Sandwiches:

  • Open the hoagie rolls or sub rolls and fill each with a portion of the steak, veggie, and melted cheese mixture.
  • Serve the homemade Philly cheesesteak sandwiches hot and ready to enjoy!

Savor the Philly Flavor:

  • Indulge in these delightful Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, featuring tender, savory steak, caramelized onions and peppers, all smothered in gooey melted provolone cheese, tucked into a soft hoagie roll - a taste of Philly right in your kitchen! Adjust the toppings or cheese according to your preference.
